HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) Diamonds

• How it works: This method mimics the natural conditions deep inside the Earth. Carbon is placed in a special press and subjected to extremely high pressure (over 5 GPa) and very high temperatures (above 1,400 °C). Under these conditions, carbon atoms crystallize into diamond around a small seed crystal.

• Key features:

  • Produces diamonds relatively quickly.

  • Often used for smaller stones, industrial diamonds, or to improve color in natural diamonds.

  • HPHT diamonds can sometimes show a metallic tint or inclusions due to the metal catalysts (iron, nickel, cobalt) used in the process.
